Do you love Heart: The City Beneath? Have you delved to its nightmarish depths, faced its unreal horrors, stared death in the face and found it beautiful? Do you want more? Well, you’ve come to the right place. Ways and Means is a 168 page hardback sourcebook for Heart: The City Beneath. Inside you'll find a towering pile of exciting new content to delight and horrify players and GMs alike. For Players, you'll discover new Classes and Callings to create your doomed delvers, alongside a bustling bazaar of new equipment, drugs, spells, artefacts, animals, and hirelings to use during your ill-fated expeditions into the Heart. For GMs, you'll find a sopping bucketload of unsettling and horrifying events for each Domain in the Heart to make your Delves truly unforgettable, accompanied by a roster of new adversaries and adventures to hurl at your unsuspecting parties, including dozens of Bounties – self-contained one-page jobs that you can plug into any ongoing game to act as a reason for player characters to chuck themselves headlong into disaster or to provide impetus for a one-shot game. Features: • Novel Format: The GM and Player side of the book are flipped upside down, and the edges of the books can be splayed to reveal secret messages, making for a fun reading experience. • New Mind-bending Classes: Including the freewheeling bardic Witness, the mind-warping fungal Blightborn, the Haven carrying Snail Pilgrim, and the walking body horror of the Crawler. • New Doomed Callings: Including the muse-seeking Artist, cult-building Demagogue, incursion-battling Containment, and self-sacrificing Protector. • Dubious Hirelings: Expanded rules to recruit hirelings to join your delves, including such auspicious professionals as the Legbreaker, the Pole-Carrier, the Mumbler, the Cook, and more! • Horrible Pets: Never be alone again with your choice of loyal-ish companions, like the Watch-Hog, the decidedly ignoble Heartsblood Horse, and the so-called Useless Worm. • Messed Up Weapons: An armoury of bad-day-makers that can only exist in the Heart, now placed in your morally upstanding hands. • Black Market Spells: Buy unregulated spells from a shady wizard that let you step between tiers of the Heart, pin your soul to a moment in the past or absorb incoming hexes by jamming nails into a Witch’s heart. • A Rogue’s Gallery of Cursed Objects and Arcane Artefacts: From a fate-plucking spider-strung lyre to a parasitic hive mind controlled doll, each comes with history, strange abilities, and a story to tell. • Tragic and Uncanny Bounties: Self-contained one-page jobs that you can plug into any ongoing game to act as a reason for player characters to chuck themselves headlong into disaster or to provide impetus for a one-shot game. • A Deluge of Delve Events: Short scenes and roleplay beats for each Domain in the Heart to make your Delves truly unforgettable, accompanied by a roster of new adversaries and adventures to hurl at unsuspecting parties.
