With limited ammo and nothing but rusty, makeshift weapons that might break at any moment, every encounter with the infected or other survivors is a life-or-death situation. Era: Survival runs on the critically acclaimed Era D10 ruleset, a versatile “dice pool” based system with rules adapted to the cruel world of Gaia. The game’s Karma system rewards good or evil karma based on your actions’ outcomes. Your karma affects how you interact with NPCs, the type of loot you find, and many other aspects of your survival. This results in all your decisions feeling more tense and consequential, even the smallest mistakes can spell life or death. However, the ruleset is easy to get into and keeps the story in the spotlight while ensuring the combat and other mechanics are smooth and engaging.

A full guide to character creation, with a range of backgrounds, and options for the Karma System

The Era: Survival Core Rulebook (or Era: Survival Definitve Edition Rulebook) and a few dice are all that is required for anyone to play the game, with separate Karma Cards highly recommended to be used, but not strictly necessary. There are vast array of expansions and source books available should you want to dive deeper into the world of Era: Survival.
