Who was the first woman to design a module for TSR? Which adventure was so "scandalous" that management literally buried it in a landfill? Which release was, chronologically speaking, the fifth edition of D&D? Find out in Designers & Dragons Origins! This comprehensive four-volume history tells the tale of each and every product TSR released for OD&D, Basic D&D, and AD&D 1e. From the birth of roleplaying to the discovery of the Forgotten Realms, from the rise of Basic D&D to the fall of Mystara, award-winning historian Shannon Appelcline brings you the story of OD&D, Basic D&D, and AD&D 1e in Designers & Dragons Origins. Book by book, the four volumes in this series cover every product TSR released for: • Vol 1: Original D&D and Advanced D&D 1e (1971-1983) • Vol 2: Advanced D&D 1e (1983-1988) • Vol 3: Holmes D&D, B/X D&D, and BECMI D&D (1977-1987) • Vol 4: BECMI D&D, Black Box D&D, and Mystara (1987-1995) Nearly a decade in the making, Designers & Dragons Origins spans 1500+ pages and over 400,000 words. Each volume features a full-color interior and ribbon bookmarks, with a stylish slipcase enclosing the whole package. Altogether, this handsome set will make a prized treasure on any fan’s bookshelf. “Shannon’s work is exhaustive but never exhausting. It's exhilarating instead. Every entry is both a history lesson and a love letter to the incredible products that formed the foundation of the game that started it all. You’ll sit down to read one entry and find yourself halfway through a book before you know it!” — Matt Forbeck, game designer and New York Times bestselling writer
